Kunsthalle Lissabon

Library

Our library is an effort to document and preserve Kunsthalle Lissabon and its associated artists’ activity, in a sincere and deep understanding of the need for systematic historiography of curatorial practice in Portugal.

In this sense, the reading room collects, archives, and makes available for an in situ inquiry all the materials published concerning the activity of Kunsthalle Lissabon, all the material published by Kunsthalle Lissabon itself, and all the publications related to the artists who have collaborated with Kunsthalle Lissabon.

Our library is also interested in publishing activity as an expanded field of artistic and curatorial practice and, in this sense, collects and archives periodical publications of an experimental, discursive or theoretical nature. Furthermore, it focuses on publishing within an artistic context: the reading room/documentation area also collects and archives a set of periodical international reference publications. Lastly, publications concerning major institutional exhibitions (biennials, triennials, etc.), which constitute potential alternative models of institutional action, are also cataloged in our library.
